TV Series on Amazon Prime

Now that the weather is getting colder and the nights are drawing in, I’ve found a new appreciation for watching TV at home. It’s perfect for relaxing and spending some time having a laugh (or two) and even making you feel all nostalgic! Since June, I’ve found that I really like Amazon Prime and – when I have some free time – I tend to prefer it. As much as I like Netflix, I choose Amazon Prime now, mainly for nostalgia. Below you can find some TV series that are on Amazon Prime now (included in the price, so you won’t have to pay extra in order to watch them!) In case you haven’t discovered them yet, this is it!

Bones

I know that I’ve told you before how much I love these series, but now that’s included in Amazon Prime price, I love it even more! Booth and Brennan’s relationship is true #relationshipgoals and (almost all) cases they solve are interesting on their own. I like how comedy and drama feature there and how the one is incorporated into the other. Right now I am binge-watching season 5 and I so don’t want to move to season 6! The heartache is too much! However I need to move on, as there are so many series on my watchlist, I have no space (figuratively speaking of course!)

The Mentalist

THE MENTALIST

Whoever has seen – even a little bit – of the cases Patrick Jane has solved and didn’t like this TV series, they are not my friends anymore! And it’s not only the cases; the series portray Patrick Jane as a tortured individual who has lost his family in an instant. He is a consultant with CBI, while also looking for his arch-enemy, Red John. I believe Simon Baker is an excellent actor, but I like his suits on the set a little bit too much, IMO! Never mind though; for a TV series that ran until 2015, I believe re-watching it is definitely on the cards!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

For a first foray into the world of Joss Whedon, Buffy is the best! It is no wonder that this has inspired pop culture ever since or catapulted the career of Joss Whedon and his actors! I think Buffy was one of the first strong female role models and she literally paved the way for other strong female characters on  TV. Buffy, Xander and Willow were our TV best friends when we were little and seven seasons still seem too few for all the storylines and the characters involved. I am planning on re-watching it and as soon as I finish Buffy, I will move on to its spinoff (also available on Prime)…

Angel

To be honest, I got on the Angel wagon a bit late, the summer of 2011, but it still is one of my favourite TV series. I cannot tell you how happy I was when I saw that it was included on Prime! David Boreanaz is probably one of the best vampires around and I thank Joss Whedon for creating Angel every single time! I liked season 5 episode “Smile Time” (seriously it was hilarious! James Marsters’ exclamation about a “wee little puppet man” still makes me have tears in my eyes) and who can forget the “Let’s get to work” in “Not Fade Away”? Five seasons are really not enough!

Supernatural

I know I’ve told you before about my love for SPN family, but what I didn’t know then is that Supernatural is included in Prime, up to season 13! I can now binge-watch all of my favourite episodes ( much like what Cass did with “The Wire”), I can laugh again with “Fan Fiction” and I can also ignore the way Crowley dies (I still believe it wasn’t fair and they need to bring him back for season 15!) I wasn’t expecting Supernatural to be free with my Prime membership, so this was a welcome surprise!

Elementary

TV series with a twist? Check! Sherlock Holmes? Also check! Elementary is the two above combined, so if you miss the proper one from the BBC, you can give this one a chance! The first 5 seasons are included in Prime (the rest are not), but I hope that by the time I move to this on my list, the rest will be available too! Johnny Lee Miller is a great actor (I remember him from Trainspotting and Mansfield Park) and he is even greater as Sherlock. I watched a few episodes some years ago, but now that it’s included on Prime, I am giving it another go, hands down!

The X-Files

Now that’s the one that inspired all others and everyone is looking up to! This was my childhood and it’s so great to know that Amazon appreciates it too! All 11 seasons are included in Prime, so I can watch and re-watch Mulder and Scully, as they investigate cases involving paranormal phenomena. I remember I was so dedicated to the X-Files, when I was younger, I had to wake up at 3 am to watch the final episode; at least I will not have to do that now (hopefully)! I want to believe now!

Lost

Lost

I cannot tell you how many hours I’ve spent watching (and thinking about) Lost when I was younger! I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve watched the series finale, trying to make sense out of it! Well now I can binge on Lost for all of its six seasons and see again Matthew Fox and Josh Holloway on my screen, guilt-free! If you’ve heard about the “Others” or the “Dharma Initiative”, then I’m sure you know what I’m talking about! I think it’s time to make our heads explode from thinking, is it not?

Highlander

Highlander

A true TV series from the 1990s, I used to watch it when I was a child! (And obviously think that Adrian Paul was the coolest person ever!) I loved the flashbacks on the series, where you could see Duncan MacLeod in different timelines and the narration “In the end, there can be only one”. Most of all though, I loved the music! Children of the 1990s know what I’m talking about; for the rest of you, I will say one word: Queen. Oh yes, their song “Princes of the Universe” was the theme song in Highlander. Can you please tell me that it wasn’t cool? I am so happy that all seasons of Highlander are included in Amazon Prime, so I can go back to when I was in primary school – if only for 49 minutes each time?

Now if only Charmed was also included in Prime, that would really make my day! I just have to add, I have no affiliation at all with Amazon Prime – I just love old TV series!

Till next time,

Sofia-Maria
