After exploring my favourite TV series in the first part I will give you here the second part of my favourite TV series. They include everything; period dramas, comedies, and the odd sci-fi and fantasy. I’m very excited to tell you all about them, so let’s get on with the show!
Friends
“So no-one told you life was gonna be this way….” Really, who doesn’t know what I’m talking about? Joey (How you doin’?), Phoebe (Smelly cat, smelly cat), Monica (I know!), Rachel (Noooooo), Ross (We were on a break!) and Chandler (Does anyone remember what his job was) were some of the best friends I had when I grew up! I may not remember the titles of each and every episode (seriously hats off to any of you who know them!), but I still remember all the plot lines! From Ross’ first wife, Carol, who is a lesbian, to Phoebe’s Princess Consuela Banana-Hammock, all episodes were golden in my opinion! Even now, whenever I catch a rerun, I will watch it, much to the consternation of my brother who says “Haven’t you learn them by heart already?!?” Still, brother dear why refuse all that fun to yourself?
Poldark
First of all, can I say how much I hate George? And sometimes Ross and Demelza and Elisabeth too! My hate notwithstanding, I have to say that BBC did an excellent job in these series. The scenery is amazing(and now I really want to visit Cornwall!) and the music is hauntingly beautiful. I admit I cried in the last series, when Henshawe dies, and Aunt Agatha is my hero! Ross (i.e. Aidan Turner) is my celebrity crush at the moment and I cannot wait for the 4th series. Maybe a month left? For any of you who have missed out, I cannot recommend Poldark enough. You will be hooked in no time!
Charmed
I absolutely love, love these series! Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige are the best sisters around. Their struggles and dynamics are what made it interesting to me (and not at all Leo, Chris or Cole!). I can still remember summer evenings watching the series, when the sisters’ questionable choices made my head hurt. Whenever I crave pure awesomeness and toughness, I definitely go back watching Piper exploding things or do some killer potions (literally). A show ahead of its time and one of the best series finales I have ever watched!
Criminal Minds
So disturbing to say the least! Very dark, it makes you look twice when you get outside, because predators of the world look like normal people. I found the start of the episodes, with a quote, was fascinating, as diverse figures were used. For example, I remember Robespierre and Malcolm X, Shakespeare and Euripides. While it is a crime procedural, it goes deeper in the motives and behaviour of the “bad guys” than other shows, which is why it’s different and why it’s lasted that long. This unique perspective is important, so let’s hope Criminal Minds will still be on in 5-10 years’ time!
The Orville
This is currently my favourite! Created by Seth MacFarlane, The Orville is pure fun! Set in a galaxy not so far away, in the 25th century, The Orville makes space travel sound awesome. And I know what you will say about the original Star Trek series, and Seth’s vision was to create something similar. Exploring new worlds with an incredible crew (albeit a ridiculous one at some points) has become one of my perfect ways to deal with difficult weeks. I love Bortus (you will be silenced!) and Ed of course, but I wish Gordon was my bestie! My favourite part of the first season was the Liam Neeson cameo (I think I died internally), and my wish for the second season? I want Bortus to sing karaoke My Heart Will Go On and after that, Ed to sing a Frank Sinatra song. He does it so wonderfully in real life, no?
So, these are my favourite TV series that I go back again and again. Some honourable mentions include X-Files (this is the original sci-fi people!), CSI-NY (I used to watch it with my mum and we tried to guess who the killer was), Lucifer (Thank you, Amazon Prime, for this gem, as I cannot imagine my lunch breaks without Tom Ellis), Veronica Mars (What can I say about a girl in high school solving crimes? Ι only wish I was that extraordinary when I was in high school!), Once Upon A Time (They managed to make Captain Hook irresistible!) and Stargate Atlantis (such a pity there are only 5 seasons! This one should have been on for many years!).
Criminal Minds!Yeeeeeey!I love Reid, definitely my favourite! The show is honestly the best, and the quotes!
